Zada Muncy
At three months of age, Zada Muncy was diagnosed with biliary atresia related to alagille syndrome and would require a liver transplant to survive. Sixteen months later, Zada received her Gift of Life. As she recovered, her parents, David and Heather Muncy, understood how gravely ill their little angel had been, and the profound difference a donor family’s decision made for each of them. Heather says, “They allowed their loved one to live on in someone else. I just want to thank them.” Zada was always a happy baby, but prior to her transplant, had not begun to crawl or talk. Now a growing, healthy toddler she is pulling herself up to walk, and babbling to anyone who will listen. She loves her big sister, Treasure, and is the joy of her parents’ life. Heather, whose father received a heart transplant in 1995 and brother received a kidney transplant five years ago, was no stranger to transplantation. She wants the world to know, “Transplantation works, these people bounce back to live wonderful lives.”
